About the area
Fort is one of south Mumbai’s principal commercial and heritage districts. The former fort walls are gone, but the area retains a dense streetscape of colonial-era civic and business buildings, offices, banks, courts, shops and food outlets. Flora Fountain at Hutatma Chowk is a familiar landmark in the district, while the wider Fort area connects naturally with Churchgate, CST, Colaba and the business precinct around Nariman Point.
