Lucknow is one of North India's fastest-growing cities for education and white-collar employment. The University of Lucknow, BBAU, Integral University, Amity, and several medical and engineering colleges draw tens of thousands of students each year. A booming IT sector along Gomti Nagar and Shaheed Path, combined with state government offices and UPSC coaching centres, keeps PG and hostel demand high across most parts of the city. PG rents in Lucknow are moderate compared to Delhi or Bengaluru, but vary sharply between central localities like Hazratganj and newer suburbs like Sushant Golf City or Gomti Nagar Extension. Most PGs include meals, and both single and shared rooms are widely available. Auto-rickshaws and the Lucknow Metro make cross-city commutes manageable, but choosing an area close to your college or workplace still saves meaningful time and money.

Visit after dark, check CCTV, a resident warden, visitor policy and the walk from the stop or station before paying a deposit. For a shared double room with meals, start with Aliganj, Charbagh and Rajajipuram (₹3,500–₹5,500); Hasanganj for Lucknow University and IIM Road for IIM Lucknow is the relevant student reference.
