New Town (Rajarhat) is Kolkata's newest planned township, home to Eco Park, Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, and a growing cluster of IT and corporate offices. The area attracts young professionals and families looking for modern apartments and managed co-living spaces. PGs here are typically in newer buildings with better amenities than older parts of the city, though the area still feels sparsely developed in some sections.

Bidhannagar (Salt Lake) is a planned township in east Kolkata, home to Sector V's Tech district, the Kolkata High Court branch and several government offices. Salt Lake Metro connects it to the main Kolkata metro network.

Jadavpur is defined by Jadavpur University, one of India's top-ranked public universities, and the surrounding network of coaching classes, bookshops, and student services. PG demand is intense and seasonal, peaking around admissions. Most PGs offer meals, shared rooms, and Wi-Fi, aimed squarely at the student demographic. The area also has good bus transit access to central and south Kolkata via the 8B and other routes.

Salt Lake City (officially Bidhannagar) is Kolkata's first planned township, laid out in numbered sectors with wide roads and green belts. It houses government offices, the Nalban food park, Nicco Park, and the City Centre mall. PG demand is strong from government employees and IT professionals commuting to nearby Sector V. The organised layout and cleaner streets make it one of Kolkata's most liveable areas.

Sector V is Kolkata's primary IT district, housing offices of TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Infosys, and numerous startups. The concentration of tech workers makes PG and co-living demand consistently high, especially for managed stays with meals and Wi-Fi. Rents are higher than surrounding Salt Lake sectors but lower than equivalent IT hubs in Bengaluru or Hyderabad. The East-West Metro extension is expected to further improve metro access.

Howrah, across the Hooghly from central Kolkata, is a major railway junction and industrial city in its own right. Howrah station connects Kolkata to the rest of India, and the Howrah Bridge provides direct access to BBD Bagh and central Kolkata. PGs in Howrah (especially near the station and Shibpur) serve railway employees, students at IIEST Shibpur (formerly Bengal Engineering College), and workers in nearby industrial units.

Machuabazar (Mechuabazar) is a central Kolkata neighbourhood near Sealdah station, in the heart of the old commercial district. It sits between Bowbazar and College Street, close to Presidency University and medical colleges.

Shibpur is a Howrah zone directly across the river from central Kolkata, home to IIEST (formerly Bengal Engineering College) and the Botanical Garden. Howrah station is about three kilometres away.
