Boring Road is Patna's coaching-centre corridor, home to branches of major UPSC, BPSC, and banking-exam institutes. The road runs through central Patna and is well served by transit to Fraser Road and Bailey Road. PG demand here is driven almost entirely by competitive-exam aspirants who want a walking-distance commute to class. Rents are among the highest in Patna, but the convenience of short distance to multiple coaching centres, libraries, and eateries makes it the top choice for serious students willing to pay a premium for location.

Kankarbagh is one of Patna's largest and most densely populated residential areas, stretching west of the city centre. It offers lower rents than Boring Road or Bailey Road while still being reasonably connected via auto and bus routes. The area has its own markets, hospitals, schools, and a popular local food scene, leaving it self-sufficient for daily needs. Students and working professionals on a budget often prefer Kankarbagh for cheap PG places that don't sacrifice basic services.

Bailey Road is a major arterial road connecting Patna Junction to the eastern parts of the city, lined with coaching institutes, colleges, and commercial places. It sits close to Boring Road, making the Bailey Road–Boring Road corridor Patna's primary coaching belt. PGs here cater mainly to students, with most offering shared rooms and meal plans. The road sees heavy traffic during peak hours, but its coaching-adjacent position and public-transport metro access make it a practical base for anyone preparing for competitive exams.

Patliputra Colony is an upscale residential area in south-central Patna, known for wide roads, established bungalows, and a relatively low-density layout. It appeals to working professionals posted at government offices and private companies in the area, as well as families relocating to Patna. PG choices here tend to be pricier but offer better facilities and quieter surroundings compared to the coaching belt. The colony is easy to reach to Boring Road and the Patna–Gaya highway, convenient for commuters heading in either direction.

Rajendra Nagar is a large residential zone in western Patna, close to Patna Junction railway station. Its access to the station makes it popular with newcomers who arrive by train and want a nearby base while settling in. The area has both old residential blocks and newer construction, with neighbourhood markets, medical shops, and eateries within walking distance. PG rents here are moderate, sitting between the coaching-belt premium and the outskirts discount. Auto-rickshaw and bus connections to central Patna is reliable.

Fraser Road is Patna's commercial spine, running through the heart of the city near Gandhi Maidan. Government offices, banks, hotels, coaching centres, and some of the city's best-known restaurants cluster along this stretch. It is one of the most well linked areas in the city, with easy access to Patna Junction and the main bus stand. PG demand comes from both students and young professionals, and rents reflect the central location. The area is walkable to courts, administrative offices, and several coaching institutes.

Dak Bungalow is a central Patna area near the main post office and Fraser Road, within walking distance of Gandhi Maidan, several government offices, and Patna High Court. The area is compact, linked by metro and bus, and historically substantial. PG picks are limited compared to the coaching belt, but the location premium is real for law students, court interns, and government-office professionals. Nearby restaurants and commercial services mean daily errands rarely require a long commute.

Danapur is a cantonment town on Patna's western outskirts, home to the Danapur Cantonment and an active army base. It has its own railway station, a distinct small-town feel, and a spread of military and civilian populations. Rents here are among the lowest in the Patna region, attracting budget-conscious students and defence-sector workers. The commute to central Patna takes 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. For renters working on the western side of Patna, Danapur offers value that the city centre cannot match.
